The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
