The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
