He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
