The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
