The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
