He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
