The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
