Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
