Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.” 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth! 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or is it that [they who reject thy message, O Muhammad, fear lest] thou ask of them a reward, so that they would be burdened with debt [if they should listen to thee]? 40 Or do they have knowledge of the Unknown which they write down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. 43 And if they should see a portion of the heaven coming down, they would say: Piled up clouds. 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 And in the night time, also glorify His Praises, and at the setting of the stars. 49
