Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
