By the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 a warning to humankind, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the criminals, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
