He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
