The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
