Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
