The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
