The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126
