Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Do not betray me 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
