The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches; 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
