The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
