The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
