The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
