The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
