And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
