Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
