The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Koran. 2 has created man, 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
