In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 separating one from another, 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 Surely, what you are promised must come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect);- 11 to what day shall they be delayed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 Which We placed in a depository safe. 21 for a term pre-ordained? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe, on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 proceed towards the three-pronged shadow, 30 wherein there is neither shade, nor freeing from the blazing flames 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 This is the day on which they shall not speak, 35 neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. 36 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
