The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
