۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
