Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
