The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
