Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, weary, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and arranged cushions 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
