The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
