Also recount the story of Abraham in the Book. He was a man of truth, and a prophet. 41 When he said to his father,* “O my father – why do you worship one which neither hears nor sees, and cannot benefit you in any way?” (* His uncle Azar.) 42 "O my father! Behold, there has indeed come to me [a ray] of knowledge such as has never yet come unto thee: follow me, then; I shall guide thee onto a perfect way. 43 O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient. 44 Father, I fear that the punishment of the Merciful will fall upon you and you will become a guide of satan' 45 Said he, 'What, art thou shrinking from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if thou givest not over, I shall stone thee; so forsake me now for some while.' 46 Ibrahim said: peace be on thee! anon I shall ask forgiveness of my Lord for thee; verily He is unto me ever so solicitous. 47 "And I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah. And I shall call on my Lord; and I hope that I shall not be unblest in my invocation to my Lord." 48 So when he had separated from them and what they worshipped other than Allah, We bestowed him Ishaq and Yaqub; and We made each of them a Herald of the Hidden. 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
