The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ NEAR HAS COME the reckoning for men, but they turn away in remissness. 1 Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 Nay, they say:"These (revelations of the Quran which are inspired to Muhammad SAW) are mixed up false dreams! Nay, he has invented it! Nay, he is a poet! Let him then bring us an Ayah (sign as a proof) like the ones (Prophets) that were sent before (with signs)!" 5 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? 6 Never did We send a message before you but through a man, whom We inspired. If you do not know, then ask the keepers of the oracles of God. 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
