The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
