Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Clear Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic Quran so that you may understand. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Should We divert this Good Counsel from you because you are a people immersed in extravagance? 5 And how many a Prophet have We sent amongst the men of old. 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 Then We destroyed those who were stronger than these in prowess, and the case of the ancients has gone before, 8 And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing." 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
