No! By the moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
