The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
