Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
