Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 who shall bring before thee every sorcerer of great knowledge." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said: yea! and verily ye shall be of those brought nigh. 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 He replied, "Throw yours first." Their great magic bewitched people's eyes and terrified them. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 Surely I shall have your hands and feet cut off upon alternate sides. Then I shall crucify you every one. 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 Thou takest vengeance on us only forasmuch as we believed the tokens of our Lord when they came unto us. Our Lord! Vouchsafe unto us steadfastness and make us die as men who have surrendered (unto Thee). 126
