۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 And they say: Are our gods better, or is he? They do not set it forth to you save by way of disputation; nay, they are a contentious people. 58 (Jesus) was only a creature whom We favoured and made an example for the children of Israel. 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol: 25, Page 89]. 60 AND, BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a means to know [that] the Last Hour [is bound to come]; hence, have no doubt whatever about it, but follow Me: this [alone] is a straight way. 61 Let not Satan misdirect you. He is your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with the signs, he said: "I have come to you with authority, and to explain some thing about which you are at variance. So fear God, and follow me. 63 God is your Lord and my Lord, so worship Him. This is the right path". 64 But certain groups created differences among themselves. Woe to the unjust. They will face a painful torment. 65 Are they merely waiting for the Hour, which will come upon them suddenly and take them unawares? 66 Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 67
