The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
