The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
