The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
