The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But save him who fears 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
