Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
