Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 42
