Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
