The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the mount. 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
