The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 His eye did not waver, nor did it stray, 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
